Shema Koleinu: an ironically short post

The need to be heard.  The right to be heard.  Shema Koleinu is a prayer of prominence during Yom Kippur services. It means,  “hear our voices” or “hear our prayers.”  It’s such an essential need.  To be heard. We plead to be heard.  In a synagogue with a definitive bias towards social justice (for which I’m so grateful),  I can’t help but be particularly moved by shema koleinu.  So today, in the quiet of my front porch, in the brisk air that has started to fall over North Carolina.  I will listen for those unheard voices, and contemplate what I can do to help them be heard.
